Try It Out Tuesdays: Caramel Apples, Lemon and Milky Ways

Oh my goodness what a busy week we had!  It was the final week for my son in kindergarten.  There were quite a few pinterest ideas I wanted to execute, end of year gifts and volunteering in the class.  Then on the last day of school he fell off the bars and hurt his thumb, we will find out later this week if it’s broken.

Take me out to the ballgame!

This past weekend I ran another half marathon.  It was hot, like in the 70′s.  Anything over 60 is hot in an endurance run.  My friend and I overdid it, we pushed too hard instead of scaling back.  By then end of the race, after a few stumbles, we were pooped.  We couldn’t even enjoy the after party.  By the time we got back into town, we were rehydrated and hungry and chowed down at Red Robin.

Try It Out Tuesdays: Pumpkin, PB&J, Cinnamon

If you are following my Friday posts, then you know this past Friday, the first Friday in June is National Donut Day.  My son was home sick from school so we didn’t make it to the donut shop until about 8am and they were almost sold out of EVERYTHING!!!  Great for a local shop, bad for us.  Since they were out of my son’s favorites, I got him to try the super donut.  He didn’t quite finish it but did garner a lot of attention while attempting to eat it at the local Starbucks!

Pinterest Hits & Misses Vol. 2

For some of you, summer vacation is already here.  But for others, the end of school is rapidly approaching.  What to do with the kids during the summer???  How do we keep from driving each other insane??  These are questions I think every parent faces at one time or another.  Even the parent who must work and send their child to camp, day care, etc.  The kids are crazier with the end approaching, at least the ones at my son’s school are.  The final week is full of picnics and parties and all out fun.  I miss those days.

Who’s there?  My son loves knock-knock jokes.  Any kind of jokes for that matter.  And if you team him up with his dad , you better watch out.  And wouldn’t you know it, but summer is knocking on our door!  School is almost out for us, the weather is trying to get warmer, and there is just a different energy in the air.  I can’t wait!

Try It Out Tuesday: Peanut Butter, Mixed Berry, Chocolate & Banana

It was a fun week in the kitchen baking up yummy treats!!

Let’s start with the scone of the week!  This week we tried Chocolate Chip Mixed Berry Scones.  I used dark chocolate chips in the recipe and they turned out tasty.  I found this dough stickier than the other scones I have tried in the past and while rolling them out I smashed my fair share of raspberries.  They were still pretty tasty.

Monday Musings

Not much to report today.  In trying to work out content for other days of the week I have let Mondays slip into arrears.  I am hoping to be back on track with good content next week and I apologize.  I am also letting What I wear Wednesday go for now.  I am not some fashionista nor do I wear designer clothes and I bet no one cares.  Hoping to come up with something else for Wednesdays soon.

This weekend we had a campout in the back yard.  All the fun of camping with all the comforts of home.  Win-win!!  Hope you weekend was swell!.  Check back tomorrow for some delicious recipe reviews!
